Summer of 23'

I’m finally 23! I can’t believe it and as old as I feel, I realize I’m still super young. My birthday was on August 28th, however, we all know how I am with late posts and what not but, later’s better than never, am I right??? *tee-hee*

It took a lot of planning to figure out what I wanted to do, where I wanted to go, especially since Covid-19 is still running rampant around the world. I also wanted my boyfriend to come along and spend time with us (in which unfortunately did not happen) so I planned a weekend road trip we could all enjoy. I decided to travel to Lancaster, PA to get away from NY, and to also visit Sight and Sound theaters (imagine Broadway but biblical) to see their show Esther.

In order for this trip to happen my mother wanted Umar (my boyfriend) to come along as the second driver. I originally planned to drive to Pennsylvania on my own however, my mom wanted a more “experienced” driver with me in order to feel safe (thanks mom). Unfortunately, the day of my birthday my boyfriend had come down with the flu and thought he would feel better the very next day when we were expected to leave but of course felt worse. With what's going on in the world I didn't want to take any chances and put my trust in God that I will be the designated driver and would go to Pennsylvania with or without him.

Surprisingly my mom didn't freak out when she did find out Umar wasn't able come and she later told me that this was something that had to happen in order for her to learn to trust and rely on God before trusting in people. She said that she put so much trust in my boyfriend because she knew of his experience that God had to teach her to put her anxiety and fear before Him and watch how He does the impossible! And He did.

As someone who hatessss driving on the highway, and develops tons of anxiety using GPS while driving, God had given me a peace that passed ALL understanding (Philippians 4:7) to equip me to drive from New York to Pennsylvania and back, as well all travel to places in Lancaster I’ve never been before. It’s amazing to see that even for those who have known God for years, that person being my mother, that He still is able to surprise us and we afre able to lean to Him closer than before!

What’s even better, is knowing how God confirms His Word. The main message within Esther was, “Be still and know that I am God,” (Psalm 46:10). It’s refreshing to know how God speaks to us in different ways, and when we listen to hear His voice, He answers.

So without further ado, here’s some photos I’ve taken or my brother-in-law got during this past weekend.

We got a couple photos in front of the theater, and I’ll admit, this is the best one.

amish farm tours

Do we look alike?

Do we look alike?

We spent our Sunday visiting The Amish Farm and House, where we learned about Amish culture and fed all the animals!!! For those who don’t know, Lancaster is known as “Amish country” due to the population of Amish people residing there. Also, since a lot of the businesses are run by the Amish, it was really interesting and educational to understand more about their culture and religion.

Strasburg Creamery, Café, and Country Store

Of course we ended our day with ice cream…which was AMAZING btw

finale’

For the next two days I spent my time with my sister who happens to live in PA, and it was so relaxing to spend time with family and experience a “normal” way of life despite of the world’s circumstances.

I hope YOU ENJOYED seeing a little bit more into ‘my life’, who knows what next?
