January Favorites: 2019
I can’t believe January is finally coming to an end, it went by so fast! But, I’m thrilled to share my current beauty favorites of this month and beginning of this year, woo! Hopefully, I will do my part and continually post my favorites every month *crosses fingers*.
Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash- For those who read my everyday skin care routine, you would know I adore Senka's Perfect Whip Cleansing Foam. It always kept my face clean while keeping it hydrated! However, I've noticed I was suffering from frequent hormonal acne (due to Aunt Flo), resulting in blind pimples that never went away no matter how much I cleansed. I stumbled onto this product while I was away on vacation and I forgot my facial cleanser (the horror!). This cleanser has salicylic acid in it, which goes into deeper layers of your skin to help treat the problem from the root. The first time I used this was at night and I woke up the next morning with a noticeable difference. The bumps under my skin all went down by 50% and so did my redness. By the time I finally got back to NY my skin was clear and I’ve been using it ever since!
2. Mamonde Hydrating Beauty Water - It’s all in the title, this toner is so hydrating! As soon as I noticed my Acwell toner was coming to an end, I decided why not switch it up this time? Mamonde’s Hydrating Beauty Water was curated into Sokoglam’s website in September of last year and I was so excited. Fun fact: I absolutely LOVE rose water. Years ago, I use to tone my skin with rose water and I got compliments on it left to right. I only stopped using it when it ran out and decided to purchase the same version with a glycerin added to it. Little did I know my skin did not care for that added ingredient and I would get small painful bumps every time I used it, it was terrible. Infused with damasked rose, this toner instantly hydrates and tones the skin to maintain a youthful glow and leave nourished. I’ve been applying this toner every morning and night before the rest of my skincare routine in order to keep a consistent, smooth base for the rest of my skincare and makeup routine. As much as I love this at the moment, I will stick to my Acwell toner because it does have more hydration than this toner, but for summer I will definitely repurchase to keep a healthy glow without greasing.
3. Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum + Foundation - GUYS I THINK I FOUND THE PERFECT CREATION! While applying my makeup one day, I noticed my skin was more dehydrated than usual and wondered how could I get a more luminous finish? Suddenly, it hit me, ‘mix a drop or two of your vitamin c serum in with your foundation and see how it lays’. The result was flawless and radiant skin! As of right now I’ve been going back and forth using Too Faced Born This Way Foundation, and Wet n’ Wild’s Photo Focus Foundation, adding two drops of my serum to the back of my hand after pumping out my foundation and mixing it in with my finger. I then use my finger to place the product on my face before blending it out with my beauty blender. My skin looks like SKIN, while giving off a fresh, awake, radiant finish. Most importantly, by the end of the day, my skin is not feel or look greasy, which adds major brownie points to this combo!
4. RCMA No-Color Powder - After applying my foundation, I love to go in with my RCMA powder because of what this stuff does! As soon as I apply this to my skin, instantly my pores are minimized and gone with the wind, it’s amazing! It’s so easy to blend out after baking, and holds no color, helping the product disappear with one swipe. Since using this in my daily makeup routine, I have noticed even a my makeup lasts longer, my pores stay minimized, without the look of getting cakey or changing the shade of my foundation on my skin.
